Dubrovnik Adventures: Boat Rentals and Jet Ski Fun

If you’re into water activities, Dubrovnik has some great options. We spent one day exploring on a beautiful boat with a skipper who took us to all the best spots, and another half-day zipping around on a jet ski safari. Here’s a quick rundown of both experiences:

Jet Ski Safari

I booked our jet ski safari through Garitransfer in advance. Their policy was strict about cancellations—lose your whole payment if you cancel less than a day before or don’t show up. But when my husband got sick and we ended up being five instead of six, they refunded us without any fuss, which was really kind.

On the day of the safari, Garitransfer picked us up and took us to their marina. We got a map, gear, and some instructions before heading out. Once we were all set, we hopped on the jet skis and zoomed off towards the Elaphiti Islands. Speeding across the Adriatic Sea was as thrilling as you’d expect!

We explored little coves around the islands and even stopped at a beachfront restaurant for a drink.  We found a blue cave with calm water perfect for a quick swim. The water was so clear, and the views of Dubrovnik’s coastline were stunning. The ride itself was a blast!!  The combination of speed and the gorgeous surroundings made for a memorable experience.

Although we were bummed to leave sickly Brian behind, we had an awesome day on the water.  I would 100% recommend this jet ski safari if you’re looking for a little adventure while visiting Dubrovnik.

Skippered Yacht Trip

Since we enjoyed jet skiing so much, a few days later we decided to hire a boat with a skipper for a full day on the water. The skipper suggested we explore Mljet and nearby islands.

We chose a Jeanneau Leader 8 from Dubrovnik Boats and loved it. The boat was spacious and perfect for the six of us. With our tunes blasting on a wireless speaker, we set off for a day of exploration.

We cruised around the island, taking in the coastline from the water. The views were just incredible—rugged cliffs, hidden coves, and the bluest water you can imagine. We found a few spots that were perfect for swimming, so we took a dip and cooled off. The water was refreshingly cool and clear, and swimming in such a beautiful setting was pure bliss.

Lunch was at a charming waterfront village marina where we had a fantastic meal. I wish I had made note of the name of the restaurant because it was the freshest fish you can imagine and cooked to perfection.  My friend Phil tried the fresh conch that the restaurant owner was pulling out of the water, though the rest of us passed on that 😊

By the end of the day, we were all smiles. It was the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. If you’re in Dubrovnik, both the jet ski safari and the skippered boat trip are must-dos!
