Austria Itinerary: A 7-Day Journey Through Vienna, Salzburg, and Beyond

This 7-day itinerary is designed to immerse you in the best of what Austria has to offer, from the cultural and historical wonders of Vienna to the picturesque charm of Salzburg. Along the way, you’ll embark on memorable day trips to the quaint towns of Alstadt and Hallstatt, and venture into Germany to explore the iconic Eagle’s Nest. DAY 1:  VIENNA

You’ve arrived!  Hopefully you were able to get some shut eye on the flight and are ready to drop your bags at the hotel, freshen up, and hit the ground running.

  • Private car transfer from the airport to city hotel (a one-way transfer by Wien Transfer will cost around $55-65 USD)

  • Visit Stephansplatz – Vienna’s bustling central square is a great place to pick up some souvenirs from one of its many shops, enjoy a hot pretzel from a street vendor, and admire the amazing architecture of the buildings in this area.  Don’t miss the grand St. Stephen’s Cathedral and its fascinating catacombs, rich in history. (Stephansplatz is a 10-min walk from Hotel Bristol or a 3-min Uber ride from Alstadt Vienna)
  • MozartHaus:  Take a quick 5-minute stroll from Stephansplatz to the MozartHaus, where you can tour the museum and the historic home where Mozart composed. DAY 2:  VIENNA

Get up and get an early start today.  There’s a lot to see and caffeine is your friend!

  • 3:00-5:00pm Schönbrunn Palace & Gardens in Vienna with skip-the-line tour:  One of Vienna’s most visited sites, this Baroque palace, with its history and vast gardens, stands as a testament to the grandeur of the Habsburg Monarchy.
