An Inside Look at Ca’ Sagredo Hotel in Venice

I was absolutely shocked when I opened the door of our Grand Canal Junior Suite at Ca’ Sagredo. The room was absolutely enormous! Hotels in popular European cities, especially compact cities like Venice, usually have small rooms, so we were surprised to find the room was not only large, but the closet was enormous too!

Ca’ Sagredo felt like it belongs in the renaissance era, and we understood why once we learned the hotel was once a palace, so it has a beautiful blend of historical charm, opulence, and modern luxury. Certain aspects of the room, like the sofa, could use a little refresh, but all in all we were quite pleased with our stay.

Many of the rooms, including ours, offer a view of the canal. However, unless you’re there celebrating a special occasion, I would suggest saving a bit of money by getting a room without a view. In Venice, as soon as you leave your room, and everywhere you go thereafter, has a view. That’s the beauty of Venice, the most unique city in the world.

Just a short walk from the Rialto Bridge, Ca’ Sagredo Hotel has a perfect canal-side location within easy reach of Venice’s main sites. Although we didn’t dine at L’Alcova, the hotel’s Italian restaurant, it serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We did, however, enjoy drinks on the restaurants canal facing outdoor terrace, where we were fascinated as we watched fire ‘boat’ go by, and then the taxi ‘boat’, the postal ‘boat’, the sanitation ‘boat’, and so on. For more expansive views, the hotel’s rooftop terrace offered panoramic views over Venice.

The concierge team at Ca’ Sagredo Hotel was exceptional. We had requested a private gondola ride with a musician and singer, and they got right to it and had them ready to go and out front of the hotel within 30 minutes. I highly recommend splurging on this experience—it was truly unforgettable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming property, the outstanding service we received, and would gladly return to Ca’ Sagredo Hotel in the future.
