Istria is a stunning peninsula in northwest Croatia that really has something for everyone. The coastline is dotted with charming spots like Rovinj and Porec, where you can enjoy lovely beaches and wander through historic streets. Rovinj, in particular, is a gem with its colorful buildings and cozy harbor. It was my absolute favorite place I visited in Istria, and I cannot wait to go back there again.

Hilltop towns like Motovun offering amazing views and a peek into the region’s medieval past. Motovun is also known for its truffles, so foodies will love the local cuisine here, which features everything from fresh seafood to rich truffle dishes. And speaking of food, Istria’s olive oil is top-notch, and their wines—like Teran and Malvazija—are definitely worth a taste.

Porec

This coastal town is brimming with charm and history. One of the main highlights is the Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with stunning early Christian mosaics that are absolutely worth seeing. It’s a beautiful piece of history right in the heart of town.

Porec’s Old Town is a maze of narrow streets and quaint squares, perfect for strolling and soaking up the local atmosphere. You’ll find plenty of lovely shops, cafes, and restaurants where you can enjoy a meal or just people-watch.
