I have put thousands of miles on my passport, and along the way, I’ve discovered my favorite travel accessories that I recommend to friends and other women travelers. I’ve tried out many, from the neck pillow that was so uncomfortable it gave me a crick in the neck, to the collapsible water bottle that leaked all over my tote bag. I’ve sifted through quite a few, and here are my favorites to help make a journey more enjoyable.
Travel umbrella
An umbrella is something many people forget to pack. They then find themselves asking the hotel concierge where they can get an umbrella once it’s already raining. It doesn’t take up much space, so I recommend packing one whenever traveling. Especially, this compact umbrella with feminine details, a flowery design, and UV protection.
Compression Socks
This is optional, but if you’re like me and tend to get swollen feet while traveling, compression socks are an absolute must (take a look at my poor tootsies in this picture and you’ll understand why). This pair by Comrad are affordable, comfortable, and easy to get on.
Neck Fan
We Americans tend to be spoiled by the marvelous invention they call air conditioning. Much of the rest of the world is missing out. Outside of the USA, AC is hit-and-miss. I am fully aware that I look like a tourist while wearing it. My husband also makes fun of me. However, he does so while he’s sweating to death and I’m nice and cool, so I really don’t care! Trust me, get one. You’ll thank me later.
Tech Folio
Do you ever see that person on a flight that is scrunched in their seat, trying not to elbow their seatmate as they furiously dig through their bag in search of something? I’ve been that person. My husband, who could teach a Master Class on packing, turned me on to tech cases. They are great for organizing your gadgets and accessories, so everything is at your fingertips during a flight. They typically come in a variety of sizes and make finding what you need easy peasy.
Eye mask
While I don’t usually use an eye mask on short flights, it’s a must for long hauls. Being able to sleep on a long-haul flight is a must for me. I tend to drag from jet lag during the first few days of an international trip, so I get as much sleep as humanly possible during the flight. What’s really great about this eye mask, besides being super soft and lightweight, is that it is bowed outward around the eye area. This means it’s not pressing down on your eyelashes and smearing your mascara.
Luggage pods
As I mentioned, my husband Brian is a packing superstar and could win gold medals in packing luggage. It all when he discovered the magic of packing pods. I kind of thought they were an unnecessary travel accessory, but he’s shown me the light. I no longer find myself hunting around my hotel room searching for where I put something. It’s all organized and I love it. Thanks Brian.
Apple Air Tag
After an airline lost my luggage for 11 days and had no idea where it was, I said never again!!! I can’t tell you how frustrating it was to be without luggage for such a long amount of time. I will never travel without an air tag in my checked luggage again. Another bonus, when you’re not traveling, you can use it in the air tag key ring to keep track of your keys.
AirFly Blue Tooth
Twelve South AirFly Pro lets you use AirPods or Beats wireless headphones with in-flight entertainment or other situations where there’s a wired jack and no Bluetooth connectivity. You can also pair two sets of wireless headphones so two people can listen to the same movie or podcast. Nifty!
World Travel Adapter
I’ve had a couple of issues with travel adaptors over the years, so these Apple adapters are my go-to for reliable charging all over the world.
