Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a solo retreat, the Kempinski Hotel Cancun (formerly Ritz Carlton Cancun) is a very nice choice. The resort features 365 guest rooms, and my husband and I were lucky enough to stay in one of their gorgeous Club Seafront Corner Suites. It was elegantly designed, with incredibly comfortable beds and bedding, the suite’s TWO bathrooms were beautifully appointed, the living room was spacious and comfortable, and top it all off, we enjoyed stunning sea views.
Great Dining Options
The hotel offers several dining options. We enjoyed all of our breakfasts at El Café Mexicano, which has a really impressive breakfast buffet. From pancakes and eggs benedict to breakfast burritos, fresh fruit, meats, and cheeses, the selection is vast. And don’t forget the mimosas and hot chocolate!
A highlight of our stay was a private casita dinner. We loved it!!! Dining on steak and lobster under the glow of the moon, with the Caribbean Sea as our backdrop, was a romantic and unforgettable experience. After we were done with dinner, they brought a couple of lounge chairs and glasses of champagne, so we laid back and took in the beautiful views. The service was exceptional, and the price was very reasonable for such a special private dining occasion.
For after-dinner drinks, check out The Club Bar, which is the perfect spot to enjoy some craft cocktails while listening to live jazz.
There are also many other restaurant options within walking distance of the hotel. Some nearby winners include Harry’s and Porfirio’s.
Activities and Amenities
The resort offers two beautiful pools, a well-equipped fitness center, and direct access to the beach. The beach is expansive with pristine white-sand, and when we were there, the water was perfect. We spent our days lounging in the cabanas dotted along the beach, soaking up the sun and the tranquil atmosphere.
Water enthusiasts can enjoy activities such as snorkeling, paddleboarding, and jet skiing. The hotel offers tequila tastings and a cooking class where you can learn to prepare traditional Mexican dishes. Although I didn’t visit the spa during our stay, the property boasts the luxurious Kayantá Spa, which is renowned for its relaxing treatments.
Recent Renovations
When we stayed, the hotel was still operating as a Ritz Carlton. Some common areas were in need of updates, but I’ve read that the Kempinski is currently undergoing major renovations and upgrades, so I’m anxious to go back and check it out. The Kempinski is a great blend of luxury, comfort, and authentic Mexican charm, and is a great option while staying in Cancun.
