I remember planning my first trip to London—I was excited but overwhelmed. With so much to see and do, I didn’t want to waste a second. That’s why I created this 3-day itinerary: it’s based on my experience and designed to help first-time visitors make the most of every moment—without feeling rushed or doing too much backtracking across the city.

Day 1

You’ll see masterpieces by Rembrandt and Rubens, sculptures, and some of the world’s finest English and French furniture. After the tour, enjoy a quick drink at the Garden Cafe, which overlooks the palace lawn.

DAILY TIPS

  • Book tour tickets for the Buckingham Palace State Rooms and Westminster Abbey in advance—they often sell out.
  • Wear comfy shoes. Even though the day is compact, you’ll be on your feet a lot, and many areas are cobblestoned.
  • Be mindful of security at the Abbey—bags will be checked. No oversized bags and no beverages.
  • Bring a lightweight umbrella or rain jacket—this is London, after all.
  • Bustronome tip: Request a top-deck seat for the best views during your dinner ride.

Day 2

Moreover, there’s so much to see and explore, making it a fantastic way to dive into history and culture. You’re sure to find something that grabs your interest.

TIPS FOR TODAY

  • Dishoom opens at 8:00 AM on weekdays and 9:00 AM on weekends. Arrive promptly at 8:00 AM to avoid the brunch rush—they don’t take breakfast reservations.
  • Small bag only: The British Museum checks bags, and large ones aren’t allowed.
  • Arrive 15–20 minutes early for Mamma Mia—you’ll want time to check in, take photos, and settle in.

  • Explore Soho – It’s been a long day, but don’t let your final evening in London go to waste. Take a walk through Soho. It’s a lively area that’s perfect for continuing the fun. You’ll find a mix of trendy bars, eclectic spots, and buzzing nightlife. Whether you’re up for a casual drink or looking to dive into a unique bar scene, Soho has a lot to offer. It’s a great way to soak up the local vibe and keep the evening going. If you’d like to enjoy a drink and a light bite, check out:
    • Cahoots Underground – In Soho is a 1940s-themed cocktail bar set in a “secret” Tube station. It’s all vintage decor, big band music, and staff in character. Drinks come with cheeky names (sometimes served in teapots or newspapers) and snacks feel straight out of wartime Britain—fun, light bites rather than a full meal. It’s more about the playful vibe than craft mixology, and it’s perfect if you want a night that’s quirky, immersive, and totally different from a regular bar.

TIPS FOR TODAY

  • Arrive at the Tower of London right at opening time (typically 9:00 AM) to beat the crowds—especially for the Crown Jewels exhibit, which can get busy later in the day.
  • Wear comfortable shoes—you’ll be on your feet for most of the day between the Tower, the food tour, and walking around London Bridge/South Bank. I know…I’ve said this already….it bears repeating.
  • Dress in layers; you’ll be indoors and outdoors throughout the day.
  • The Shard is stunning at sunset, so consider timing your visit for golden hour (roughly 1 hour before sunset) to enjoy beautiful views as day turns to night. Pre-book tickets online to avoid lines and get the best time slot.
